Some friends were talking about the last time they had flown. One guy said it had been quite a while. He said that every time he thought about getting on a plane, there seemed to be a new Covid variant. Someone else commented that she had no idea that the Greek alphabet had so many letters. I said that I thought the fraternity guys knew that already.
But it’s true. There seems to be a new Covid variant all the time. What does that mean? How deadly is it? Is it resistant to the vaccine? Do I need to get another shot? Do I need to wear a mask again? And if I do, what kind? And where?
And that’s just Covid. What about the chaos in Afghanistan? Are we going to have another terrorist attack here? What about all of the people left behind there? What’s going to happen to them?
Then there’s the economy. The government is printing and spending money like it grows on trees. Oh wait! It does! Then there are supply chain issues, labor shortages, and new taxes. It makes your head spin.
I guess the only certainty in life is that there are no certainties. But that’s nothing new. The idea of certainty and control is really just an illusion.
We try to control what we can. We do our jobs, pay our bills, and plan for the future. That’s important. But in the end, there’s only so much we can do.
Estate planning is one of those things we can do. None of us knows what tomorrow may bring, but we can make plans for our families and loved ones in the event something happens to us. That’s something that we can do now that may be important in the future. And let’s face it, we’re all going to die eventually.
So give me a call. I’ll be happy to help.
