Sheri L. Hobbs
I have worked in some facet of the legal arena in Missouri for 25+ years across a variety of practice areas:
- family law (dissolution, modification, adoption)
- probate (Testate, Intestate, Guardianship, Conservatorship, etc.)
- estate planning (Trusts, Wills, Powers of Attorney, Medical Directives, Assignments, etc.)
- elder care law (Non-grantor trusts and asset transfers)
- complex estate planning (Qtip, Disclaimer Trusts, Asset Protection)
- Medicaid Nursing Home Vendor Benefits
- Veterans Administration Aid and Attendance Pension Benefits
- corporate compliance (Registration Reports, Minutes, etc.)
- business (formation of Corporations, Non-Profits, LLCs, LPs, etc.)
- criminal defense - personal injury/workers compensation
- civil litigation, appeals, MDL, and Federal cases
- contracts - real estate, including HUD financing/refinancing
- firm administration
What can I do after 25 years? Just about anything -- transcription, draft pleadings, finalizing and e-file pleadings from Municipal to Federal levels, drafting estate planning documents from basic to advanced, monitoring corporate compliance, draft resolutions and minutes, legal research, proofreading, copy editing, trial preparation, appellate preparation, request and digest medical information, medical records summary, deposition summary, scheduling, conflict checks, and general secretarial duties expected of a support person.
I am also a writer trapped in a paralegal's body. As a writer, I am ever on the lookout for publishing opportunities. Freelancing articles range from the humor in everyday life and the hilarity born out of the unexpected, along with a sober dose of self-examination and introspection. I am passionate about both my work in the legal field and in my creative writing. To both ends, I search out ways to positively impact the lives of those I have the opportunity to serve.
vOh, and I brew a mean cup of coffee!
